Rich tributes paid to journalist Shah Alamgir at JPC
Journalists, colleagues and admirers at a memorial meeting today on late eminent journalist and former Director General of Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) paid rich tributes to him.
At the outset of the meeting at the Jatiya Press Club (JPC), one minute silence was observed and a song was rendered in memory of Alamgir. A documentary on his life and works was screened on the occasion.
Chief Information Commissioner Martuza Ahmed, Managing Director and Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Abul Kalam Azad, Communist Party President Mujahidul Islam Selim, Jatiya Press Club President Saiful Alam, Ekattur Television Chief Editor and Managing Director Mozammel Babu, Dainik Sangbad Editor Khandker Maniruzzaman, Prothom Alo Joint Editor Sohrab Hasan, Samakal Assistant Editor Ajay Dash Gupta, JPC General Secretary Farida Yasmin and Alamgir’s wife Fouzia Begum, among others, attended the function.
Broadcast Journalist Center (BJC), Bangladesh organised the memorial meeting with its Chairman and Head of News of Masranga Television Rezwanul Haque Raza in the chair.
Centre’s Member Secretary and Head of News of Ekattur Television Shakil Ahmed delivered welcome address and BJC trustee Rashed Ahmed conducted the memorial meeting.
While reminiscing on life and works of the veteran journalist, his colleague and fellow journalists said Shah Alamgir was always vocal on realizing rights of journalists. Until his death, he had struggled to reached the country’s journalism to a unique height, they said.
The journalists expected that Alamgir’s devotion and sincerity to journalism will always be followed by new generation journalists.
BJC Trustee and Editor-in-Chief of Gtv Syed Istiaque Reza handed over a water-colored photograph of Alamgir to his family.
