Ivy Rahman’s 15th death anniversary observed

 

Legal Voice24 : Awami League along with its associate bodies offered Fateha and doa at Ivy’s grave seeking eternal peace for her departed soul

The 15th death anniversary of Ivy Rahman, former president of Bangladesh Mohila Awami League and wife of late president Zillur Rahman, has been observed in a befitting manner.

To mark the day, different political and socio-cultural organizations,including Bangladesh Awami League (AL), its associate bodies and other likeminded organizations took elaborate programs on Saturday.

The programs included placing wreaths and offering Fateha at her grave at the Banani graveyard, arranging milad, doa mahfil, special prayers and holding discussions across the country.

Central Awami League leaders, including Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, along with its associate bodies paid rich tributes to Ivy Rahman by placing wreaths at the Banani graveyard this morning.

They also offered Fateha and doa seeking eternal peace for her departed soul.

A milad and doa mahfil was held at the Ivy Concord Tower at Gulshan 2 seeking eternal peace of departed soul of late president Zillur Rahman, Ivy Rahman and August 21 grenade attack martyrs.

Apart from family members and relatives of the deceased, leaders and workers of Awami League and its associate bodies attended the milad and doa mahfil.

Besides, separate milad and Quran Khawni was held at Ivy’s ancestral home and in-laws residence in Kishoreganj district’s Bhairab upazila.

Ivy Rahman, also former president of Bangladesh Mahila Samity, received grievous injuries during a grisly grenade attack on an Awami League rally at Dhaka’s Bangabandhu Avenue on August 21, 2004.

She succumbed to her injuries on August 24.
