Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, MP said ‘Mujib Kella Memorial’ will be commissioned at an adjoining place of ‘Shekher Kella’, Ramgati Upazila of Lakshmipur to commemorate Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s first village tour outside Dhaka in independent Bangladesh and his historic call for building nation.
Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, MP, announced this at an exchange view meeting held on today Wednesday after visiting ‘Shekher Kella’ and Poragacha Guchhogram at Ramgati Upazila of Lakshmipur. A.K.M Shajahan Kamal, MP (Lakshmipur -3) and Maj (retd.) Abdul Mannan, MP (Lakshmipur -4) were present at the event.
The land minister also said that there will be Father of Nation’s monuments, murals and other infrastructure at the ‘Mujib Kella Memorial’ complex.
It is to be noted that, the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman visited Ramgati Upazila on February 24 of 1972. He inaugurated the construction of the ‘Kella’ Safeland/platform by digging the soil to protect livestock along with the disaster affected people and promised to set up Guchhogram in the Ramgati Upazila. The place where the work of this ‘Kella’ was inaugurated was later known as ‘Shekher Kella’ or ‘Mujib Kella’।
Land secretary Md. Muksodur Rahman Patwary, National Project Director of Guchhogram-2 project Zabed Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner of Lakshmipur Anjon Chandra Pual along with other local administration officials, local politicians, and dignitaries attended the program.
